Microsoft AppSource listing: coming soon

Get Arrayora in Excel

Arrayora isn't in Microsoft's add-in store yet. Until it is, you add it by uploading one small file, the Arrayora manifest. The quickest way takes about two minutes in Excel on the web.

arrayora-manifest.xml · about 5 KB · version 1.0.9.0. It's a text file that tells Excel where Arrayora loads from. It doesn't install a program on your computer.

Excel on the web

Recommended

This works today for anyone with a Microsoft account. Your workbooks in OneDrive open here too, so you can use Arrayora on files you also edit on your PC.

  1. Download the manifest

Save arrayora-manifest.xml to your computer. Leave it in Downloads; you'll pick it in step 4.

  2. Open a workbook in Excel on the web

Go to excel.cloud.microsoft, sign in with your Microsoft account and open any workbook, or create a blank one.

  3. Open the add-ins settings

On the Home tab, select Add-ins at the right end of the ribbon, then More Settings. In some versions this is under Insert › Add-ins › More Add-ins.

  4. Upload the manifest

In the Office Add-ins window, select Upload My Add-in. Choose arrayora-manifest.xml and select Upload.

  5. Open Arrayora from the Home tab

An Arrayora button appears on the Home tab. Select it to open the Arrayora pane, confirm you're 18 or older, and start asking in plain words.

    • Free features work without signing in.
    • The upload is saved in this browser. If you clear its data or switch browsers, upload the file again.

Excel for Mac

About 5 minutes

Excel for Mac has no upload button, but it loads add-ins from one special folder. You need Excel for Microsoft 365 on your Mac.

  1. Download the manifest and quit Excel

Save arrayora-manifest.xml, then quit Excel completely (⌘ Q).

  2. Open Excel's add-in folder

In Finder press ⌘ Shift G and paste this path:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/wef

If it says the folder doesn't exist, go to …/Data/Documents instead and create a new folder named wef.

  3. Copy the file in, then open Excel

Drag arrayora-manifest.xml into the wef folder. Open Excel and a workbook, then go to Home › Add-ins and pick Arrayora. It may be listed under developer add-ins.

Excel for Windows

Advanced for now

Desktop Excel for Windows has no "Upload My Add-in" button. Until Arrayora is in AppSource, the simple route is to use Excel on the web: save your workbook to OneDrive and open it in the browser. If you're comfortable with Windows settings, a shared folder also works:

Shared-folder method (one-time setup)

  1. Make a folder, for example C:\ExcelAddins, and copy arrayora-manifest.xml into it.
  2. Right-click the folder › Properties › Sharing › Share, share it with yourself and note its network path, such as \\YOUR-PC\ExcelAddins.
  3. In Excel: File › Options › Trust Center › Trust Center Settings › Trusted Add-in Catalogs. Paste the network path in Catalog Url, select Add catalog, tick Show in Menu and select OK.
  4. Close and reopen Excel. Go to Home › Add-ins › More Add-ins › Shared Folder, choose Arrayora and select Add.

For a company or team

A Microsoft 365 admin can add Arrayora for everyone in the Microsoft 365 admin center under Settings › Integrated apps › Upload custom apps, using the same manifest file. It then appears in Excel on Windows, Mac and the web for those users.

Install questions

Before you start

Stuck on a step? Email support@udainiya.com or call +91 96960 82548. Tell us which Excel you use.

Do I need Microsoft 365?

Arrayora is built for Excel for Microsoft 365 on Windows, Mac and the web. Excel on the web opens with a free Microsoft account, so you can start there. Some formulas, such as FILTER, UNIQUE, SORT and GROUPBY, need a Microsoft 365 version of Excel with dynamic arrays.

Does it work with Excel 2016 or 2019?

No. Those one-time-purchase versions don't support what Arrayora needs. Use Excel for Microsoft 365 or Excel on the web.

Can I use it on a phone or tablet?

Not right now. Arrayora is made for Excel on Windows, Mac and the web.

Why a manifest file and not the add-in store?

We're preparing Arrayora's Microsoft AppSource listing. Until it's live, uploading the manifest is how Microsoft lets you add an add-in that isn't in the store. Once the listing is approved, you'll add Arrayora from Excel's add-ins button in one click, and this page will say so.

Is the file safe? What does it do?

It's a small text file you can open in any text editor. It gives Excel Arrayora's name, its icons and the web address it loads from (arrayora.pages.dev). It doesn't install a program. Excel lets Arrayora read and change only the workbook you have open. What Arrayora does with your data is in the privacy policy.

Will Arrayora update by itself?

Yes. Arrayora loads from the web each time you open it, so you get the latest version automatically. If the manifest file itself ever changes, we'll post the new one here.

How do I remove it?

Excel on the web: clear the browser's data for the Office site, or remove it from the Office Add-ins window. Mac: delete the file from the wef folder and restart Excel. Windows shared folder: delete the file from the folder and restart Excel.
